3Kings Water Treatment Plant Project
Project Overview
The 3Kings Water Treatment Plant replaces the aging Spiro facility and treats 3,000 gallons per minute (gpm) of mining-influenced water—with room for an additional 1,500 gpm from Thiriot Springs Housed in a 48,000-square-foot footprint, the plant raises Park City’s drinking-water capacity, reliability, and resilience.
Our Role at 3Kings Water Treatment Plant
CMT Technical Services supported the project from early site assessment through final commissioning, delivering:
- Geotechnical investigations for deep excavation and foundations
- Environmental review and permitting support
- Civil design and surveying for off-site utilities
- Pavements engineering and construction management
- Accredited laboratory testing and special inspections
- Field materials testing, inorganic chemistry, binder & emulsion analysis, and concrete petrography
Key Benefits of 3Kings Water Treatment Plant
- Higher capacity — boosts total treatment to 4.1 MGD, expanding Park City’s water supply on peak-demand days.
- Cleaner water — multi-barrier processes remove metals from historic mine tunnels, supporting regulatory compliance.
- Operational resilience — modern systems, seismic-ready foundations, and on-site micro-hydro generation improve reliability.
