Amphitheatre Redevelopment

Transforming a Summit County landmark

Situated along the shore of Dillon Reservoir, the rebuilt amphitheatre required precision grading to preserve lake views while improving storm-water flow. CMT’s field team observed excavation depths, documented sub-grade quality, and delivered same-day laboratory feedback so crews could place concrete without schedule slips.

The upgraded stage features a high-load roof for modern lighting arrays plus wing walls that protect visiting artists from afternoon alpine winds. Beneath the deck, new electrical chases and drainage trenches fit within a narrow footprint constrained by wetlands setbacks.

Accessibility drove many design choices. Re-contoured walkways, hand-rails, and tiered lawn seating create step-free routes from the plaza to the stage front, supporting inclusive community programming. Energy-efficient LED fixtures and native landscaping also trim long-term operating costs for the town.

Project delivery spanned two ski seasons. Regular winter snow melt shifted moisture conditions, yet clear communication among the contractor, the town, and CMT kept milestones on track within the planned window.
